No Love?

I am utterly annoyed by the marketing neglect of the WNBA. Compared to their male counterparts in the NBA, these women definitely are not being paid what they deserve. I've had this conversation with many males since it was brought to my attention. Most males like to place blame on the lack of ticket sales. I do understand that selling tickets will fill seats (as well as pockets) but the blame does not only lie in that. What about the endorsement opportunities? I believe that WNBA players have the same selling potential as the NBA players. The difference being that endorsement deals seem to be needed to supplement their income. The average salary for a veteran in the WNBA at $50,000/yr compared to the NBA average in the tens of millions minus the endorsements. Are they not aware of the marketing potential?

I truly believe that the women of the WNBA should have more endorsement deals than the males of the NBA. When it comes to females, there are far more marketing capabilities. We all know that women are the key force within a household that companies market to. It is understood by corporations that single and married women alike hold the purchasing power. So, why not apply the same concept to a sport that is female oriented?
